The word hepatitis refers to liver inflammation. Liver inflammation is a response that happens when liver cells are assaulted by a disease causing microbe or substance. These functions include producing bile to separate sustenance into vitality; making basic substances, for example, hormones; cleaning poisons from the blood, including those from solution, liquor and medicates; and controlling fat stockpiling and cholesterol creation and discharge.

Hepatitis has been classified into four different types (Hepatitis A, B, C and E) but over two billions of individuals were infected with hepatitis B at some point in their life and around 350 million people are persistent carriers of the virus. With widespread vaccines and blood screening, the incidence of hepatitis B has been significantly decreased. But, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are accountable for up to 80% of liver cancer cases.

Liver disease can be due to genetic or caused by a variety of factors that damage the liver, such as virus’s infection and consumption of alcohol. Liver damage is also associated with Obesity. Over time, damage to the liver has results in scarring (Liver cirrhosis), this can lead to liver failure, a life-threatening diseases. Liver disease is one of the top 10 causes of death in USA. There are more than 100 liver diseases. Some of the most common liver diseases are as follow.

Liver transplantation is a surgery to remove the diseased or injured liver and replace it with a whole new healthy liver or a segment of the liver from another/healthy person, who is called as a donor. People with acute or chronic liver failure undergo a liver transplant to survive.

Liver cancer is also known as a hepatic cancer or which originates in the liver. Liver tumors have been discovered on medical imaging equipment (often by accident) symptomatically as an abdominal mass, abdominal pain, yellow skin and liver dysfunction. The leading cause of the liver cancer is cirrhosis which is caused due to either hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or alcohol.

- Track 7-3Bile Duct Hamartomas
Liver diseases are difficult to diagnose because of its symptoms which can be vague and easily confused with other health problems. Some tests and procedures used to diagnose liver failure include: Blood test and Pro-thrombin time test. Blood tests to determine how well your liver is functioning may include the pro-thrombin time test, which measures how long it takes your blood to clot.

Liver is a gland which plays a major role in the metabolism with numerous functions in the human body, including the regulation of the glycogen storage, decomposition of the red blood cells, plasma protein synthesis, production of hormone and detoxification. Hepatocytes are the metabolic super achievers in the body which plays very critical roles in synthesizing the molecules that are been utilized elsewhere to support homeostasis and in converting molecules of one type to another in regulating the energy balances.
